Am I More Like My Father or My Mother?

Final Years

This question has always been difficult for me to answer. Perhaps best judged by my nieces, nephew, and sons. But I will try my best to answer this question without their input.

Mom was intelligent, administrative, fashionable, creative, skilled in sewing and baking, and very hospitable.

Dad was intelligent, a quiet leader, inventive, loyal to friends, patient while instructing, a mentor, and very hospitable.

I have never listed their traits before, so I am somewhat surprised by what I see. I would have guessed I was more like my Mom. However, it appears I favor more of my Dad's traits, like quiet leadership, mentoring others, and hospitality.

However, I want to be very open with you: I am not very interested in my DNA traits. Here is my heart…

When you look at me, I want you to see the traits and attributes of my Heavenly Father, Jesus my Brother, and the Holy Spirit as my Enabler.

I have so much yet to learn — that is why I will likely have a very long life. My weaknesses are glaring; my unwillingness to surrender my will for the better thing is with me every day. My decision to choose blessing over comfort is still a battle. But the Lord is patient and kind. He is teaching me His ways as we walk together.

I love the new life DNA the Lord has given me. I am a blessed woman on a learning journey to bless others as He has blessed me. There is no greater joy.

Forever grateful for my new life in Christ.
