Expanded Biography of Susie Kimes

In 1979 at the age of 32, Susie Kimes, wife and then mother of three young boys, experienced the redeeming power of God as she placed her faith in Christ. It is the story of God taking a troubled life and radically transforming it into a trophy of His marvelous grace.

From workers for VBS to women in prison; from our inner cities to our bedroom communities; from our church leaders to lay people alike, God has spoken to tens of thousands through the story of Susie's spiritual journey. Her testimony crosses cultural, racial and age barriers and has doubtless touched every listener with the profound goodness and mercy of our gracious Lord.

Director of Women's Ministry

Susie was a stay at home mom until being called into the position of Director of Women's Ministry of a mega church in California in 1984. Being a relatively new believer and being placed in such an overwhelming position, she desired to meet with other women who were in similar leadership roles.

NEWIM

Out of that need she formed the nonprofit organization of NEWIM (Network of Evangelical Women in Ministry) in 1989. NEWIM is designed to strengthen women who minister to others. The organization offers networking meetings, resources, Oasis (a day of spiritual renewal), The Springs (a three-day retreat), conferences, and newsletters. The heart of NEWIM is to give women who serve others the opportunity to come away and be renewed and restored by the only One who can fill them up, Jesus Christ, thus enabling them to give completely of themselves.

Chosen Women

While praying with a ministry leader in 1989 the Lord gave her the vision to bring together women by the tens of thousands to surrender to the Lord and worship Him. Then in 1996 while reading 2 Chronicles 29, 30 and 31 the Lord directed her to take action on the seed He had planted seven years earlier, and Chosen Women was born. These stadium events were offered as an invitation to women to come together in unity for the purpose of praise, worship, repentance, renewal and celebration.

The first of these four events was held at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California in 1997. The last Chosen Women event was held at the Myriad Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in September 1999.

Susie and John Kimes have been married for 37 years and currently reside in Newport Beach, California. They have three grown sons and enjoy four grandchildren.
