What Makes Me Happy

Final Years

My heart is pretty content, or happy. Although there are some things that really give me great joy. Let me tell you my favorite things.

Being with my sons, one on one, in person or via electronics. Talking with my daughters-in-love. Living with Jason, Ariana, Kenley, Reece, and Hudson. Getting to know my grandkids. I enjoy family gatherings, although I feel like I've missed out by not having one-on-one time with each person. Seriously, I just love being with family; it is my happy place. Sadly, at this age I do better with small groups. Aging has its perks, but feeling overwhelmed or exhausted by too many people isn't one of them.

My purest happiness is when I sense Jesus is making Himself known to me. Also, mentoring women guided by scripture is so rich and satisfying.

I am so happy when Jesus prompts me to give financially to someone in need — a stranger near or far, or someone I know. I love God's way of revealing a need. He thrills me.

Lastly, I enjoy serving in various ways. Offering a helping hand is so fulfilling. Who doesn't enjoy being needed — especially later on in life? My joy is doing laundry and picking up the kitchen area especially. If you want to make me happy, bring me your dirty clothes. I bet you would like me hanging out at your house.

I love my life. I can't imagine being happier.
